Endiro Baskets

Endiro Baskets are unique to our Ankole culture (Western part of Uganda). They are handwoven using naturally occurring sweet grass, dyed with natural dyes to add decorative elements. Traditionally, the baskets  are given as special gifts to brides during Ankole traditional weddings. Primarily, the baskets are used to serve Karo (millet bread)–one of our most well-known traditional dishes. However, in addition to serving many dry foods, Endiro baskets may also be used as decorations around the home/office, or as places to keep ornaments (such as earrings) and other treasures.
